Hays County COVID-19 tracker: new death, 46 more cases reported Friday

Here's the latest on the coronavirus pandemic in Hays County. Updated data will be added to the top of this story each evening around 6 p.m.

Hays County health authorities on Friday reported 46 new COVID-19 cases. Officials also said one more person recently died from coronavirus-related causes.
Hays County officials on Monday provided COVID-19 data from Feb. 13 to 22. Hays County did not provide updates on the pandemic last week as its offices were closed because of the winter storm. Officials also temporarily halted COVID-19 vaccinations and testing throughout the storm.
Hays County officials conduct an audit of its coronavirus numbers each week and provide changes to its data each Friday. Officials said two cases this week were removed from its total case count following this week's audit.
More than 23,000 people in the county have now received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services. More than 10,000 residents in the county have been fully vaccinated as of Friday.
As of Monday, more than 16,000 people in the area have tested positive for the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic.
