An eighth grade student at Manor Middle School brought an unloaded gun to school in a backpack Thursday, according to the Manor Independent School District.

The firearm was reported to school administrators who immediately responded with the Manor ISD Police Department. The 13-year-old boy was removed from a classroom and searched, the district said.

No one was injured in the incident. How the student obtained the gun as well as why he brought it to school remains under investigation.

The school district described it as a serious violation of the district's code of conduct and said the student will be disciplined.

If there is a threat to students or staff, Manor ISD will notify students' families immediately, the district said.
