Woman charged with murder in stabbing death at a New Braunfels home

A 29-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday after police accused her of stabbing another woman to death in a New Braunfels home overnight.

New Braunfels police were called to the 1500 block of Allison Drive around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday after reports of a stabbing, according to a police statement.

Officers found Iris Velasquez, 32 of New Braunfels, dead inside the residence, police said.

Investigators arrested Crystal Marie Madrigales of Alton, Texas, and charged her with first degree murder, the statement said.

Madrigales was booked into the Comal County Jail. Her bail had not been set by Wednesday morning, police said.

Authorities said they have no reason to believe any additional suspects were involved in the stabbing death.

An investigation into the homicide is still ongoing, police said.
