Report: The best college value in Texas is in College Station

Texas A&M earned the distinction of the best college by value in the state of Texas, according to a ranking by Money published this week.

That's right, the Aggies took the No. 18 spot on the national list, the highest of any university in Texas and the only one to crack the top 20. The ranking also lists data points for each school like the estimated price for the 2019-20 school year without aid, average student debt and early career earnings. At Texas A&M, the cost of upcoming academic year is listed at $29,700. The average student debt is listed at $18,520 and the early career earnings of graduates is $59,000.

Money Magazine calculated its ranking based on 26 factors across three major categories: quality of education, affordability and outcomes. Some of the factors include measures like six-year graduation rate, net price of a degree, debt, and graduates' earnings adjusted by majors.

Rice University in Houston snuck into the top 25 nationally, ranking No. 24. The University of Texas comes in third in the Lone Star State, landing at No. 28 on the ranking. The top three Texas schools outperformed others in the state by a long shot: The next Texas college on the list is Trinity University in San Antonio at No. 154. 

Overall, 21 colleges from Texas made the ranking.
