Sales-consulting firm Skaled is moving its headquarters from New York City to Austin as it prepares for expansion.

Skaled has leased 1,450 square feet at 823 Congress, a downtown office tower at Congress Avenue and Ninth Street. Initially, the space will house the company's 12 employees, all of whom have been hired in the past nine months.

Plans call to double the size of the Austin number, as well as the firm's nationwide team.

Founded in 2013, Skaled helps startup and established companies scale their sales and marketing organizations. Its clients include Microsoft, LinkedIn and Luster.

In Austin, Skaled is currently hiring in graphic design and email and social media marketing, and said it will also be hiring across its sales, creative and marketing teams.

"Since launching Skaled six year ago, our rapid growth has enabled us to expand our footprint exponentially -- both in talent and geographically," said Skaled founder and CEO Jake Dunlap, who last year moved from New York to Austin.

Skaled has filled out its senior management team with a number of new hires, including IBM sales operations veteran Kathy Cashen as senior sales operations consultant; Todd Darroca, formerly of Spiceworks, as director of creative services; and Marisa Hernandez, previously of GoDaddy, as manager of events and public relations.

"Austin has become one of the country's fastest-growing tech hubs in both creativity and innovation, so it was a logical choice for relocating our headquarters there to attract the industry's best," Dunlap said.

Skaled is one of several companies that have announced relocations or new offices in Austin this year. In January, 3D print manufacturing company Essentium said it was moving from College Station to Austin to capitalize on high-tech talent, customers and access to a top-flight airport, CEO Blake Teipel said in an interview.

Last month, wealth management firm Aspiriant opened an Austin office, saying it had reviewed locations across the country and their cost of labor, local talent, ease of travel and more.

Aspiriant provides wealth management for more than 1,700 individuals, families and institutions around the country. The firm has offices in 11 cities, including Silicon Valley, New York and Boston.
