Hays County health officials on Friday said three more people in the area have died because of the coronavirus, bringing the total number of COVID-19 fatalities in the county to 41.

Health officials said three Kyle residents — a man in his 50s, a man in his 90s and a woman in her 80s — died due to COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus. All three were hospitalized at the time of their deaths.

County officials on Friday also reported 8 new cases of the coronavirus, bringing the total number of lab-confirmed cases to 5,111.

Health officials said 29 more people have now recovered from COVID-19, for a total of 2,421.

The county has 2,649 active cases as of Friday. Health officials said one new person was hospitalized after testing positive for the coronavirus.
