An effort by San Francisco Women for Peace to call attention to their aims resulted in the releasing of large quantities of balloons in the Height Street District with the slogan ?Test Ban Now? on each one in San Francisco on July 15, 1963. A package they addressed to Moscow which contains a thousand paper cranes similar to those made by Japanese children injured by the A-bomb and which they felt was a good omen for recovery. (AP Photo)

This little pig will not go to market. As you can plainly see, this little day-old piggy has no hams. Born on the farm of Dr. F.C. Cooke, Elizabeth City, N.C., dentist, as one of a litter of 11, the animal is apparently normal in every other way, July 15, 1949. Dr. Cooke says the pig eats well and is about the same size as its brothers and sisters. It hasn?t yet, learned to walk balanced on its two front legs as the strange little pig is trying. Meanwhile, it has been taken from the litter and is being hand fed with bottle. (AP Photo)

Among the innovations used, when an air raid black-out plunged Portsmouth into darkness was this new type of anti gas decontamination suit. It is absolutely air tight, and cannot be worn for more than 40 minutes.
