'Shiner Saturdays' kicks off Father's Day weekend at the Spoetzl Brewery in Shiner.

What does dad want for Father’s Day? Barbecue? A road trip? Texas history? A little country music on a nice green lawn under blue skies?

Yes.

And beer.

Don’t forget the beer.

If all that seems a little hard to pull off, don’t worry. The folks in Shiner got you covered.

Following the success of Saturday tours — which began a year ago with more than 1,500 visitors on the first Saturday — the Spoetzl Brewery is launching “Shiner Saturdays” on June 15.

A press release says the event is “an all-day celebration … with a focus on bringing people together over what all Texans know and love — BBQ, beer and country music.”

The barbecue will come from The Salt Lick, the music will come from Croy & The Boys and Vinyl Ranch and the beer … well, that’s pretty obvious.

The historic Texas brewery will be offering tours from 12 until 3 p.m. with free samples for those of legal age.

(It might surprise Austinites to know that the brewery tells us that Shiner Premium is the most requested sample, followed by Light Blonde and then Shiner Bock.)

The inaugural event on June 15 lasts from noon until 5 p.m. Get your tickets here for $25 in advance and let dad plug the address into the GPS: 603 E Brewery St, Shiner, TX.

We asked the folks at Shiner if the brewery gift shop has a good Father’s Day gift option and they recommended a “Shiner Beer branded BBQ apron” or maybe a “metal sign for his man cave.”

If you already have Father’s Day weekend plans, the folks at Spoetzl Brewery are going to do it again on July 13, and then take August off while they contemplate future dates.
