Two students have been detained in connection with a threat made Monday night against East View High School, Georgetown school district officials said.

Georgetown police said they were alerted at 11:05 p.m. Monday to the threat made on social media.

"As of now, there have not been any official arrests," Georgetown Police Capt. Roland Waits said. "We do not feel, through everything we have learned, that there is a viable threat to any of the schools in the district but we are continuing to move forward with the investigation."

Officials did not have details to release about the nature of the threat but said the act was to occur on Tuesday at the campus on Texas 29 near Texas 130 east of Georgetown.

Because of this, police have increased security at the school. Waits said additional officers also have been sent to Georgetown High School, because witnesses or people who may have been involved also go to school there.

The threat, however, was isolated to East View High School, he said. School district officials said classes are continuing as normal on Tuesday. Counselors are available to meet with anyone who has concerns, district officials said.

"Georgetown Police Department will maintain an above-average presence on campus until the investigation is complete," the district said.
