How much do you love the Lu Ann Platter? That mac and cheese? Jell-O at an arm's reach?

The things you love are at risk, Texas.

According to the Houston Chronicle, Luby's announced Monday that it has closed 21 restaurants in the past year. The chain, which expressed financial concerns earlier this year, is reportedly still closing and selling restaurants while it works to pay off $39.3 million of debt.

While not all of the restaurants closed were Luby's Cafeterias (the company also owns Fuddruckers and Cheeseburgers in Paradise), the past year's shutterings have only generated about a quarter of the $45 million the company is looking to raise, the Chronicle reports.

"The sweet spot of the restaurant industry is the younger millennial who has some money and goes out a lot," restaurant broker David Littwitz told the Chronicle. "Luby's can work very hard to provide a good, hot, fresh meal at an affordable price, but they're just not what millennials are thinking about. There's nothing really Instagrammable about going down the cafeteria line and getting a meal."

An operating officer with Luby's told the Chronicle the company will employ "discounts, employee training on customer service and more popular menu options" to help regenerate the chain's popularity.

That and, fingers crossed, more mac and cheese.
