Austin police are searching for a man who tried to sexually assault a woman at an apartment complex in Southeast Austin on Thursday morning.

The attack happened around 6 a.m. at the Saratoga Ridge Apartments in the 6300 block of Bluff Springs Road, near Interstate 35 and William Cannon Drive.

Police said the woman spotted the man while walking through the complex. Shortly after, she entered a breezeway where the man grabbed her by her robe and tried to force her to the ground.

The woman fought the man off and freed herself, but he tried to regain control of her by punching her in the face several times. Despite the continued attack, the woman freed herself again and ran to safety.

Police said the man who attacked the woman was between 5-foot-8 and 6-foot, with a tattoo under each eye roughly the size of a quarter. He was either bald or had very short hair and a thin build, police said.

Anyone with more information about the incident is asked to call Austin police at 512-974-5230.
