A man is accused of attempting to assault a police officer with a glass bottle after threatening to kill everyone at a business in Leander on Monday, according to an arrest affidavit.

Jeremy Chaney, 39, of Seymour in North Texas, was charged with attempted assault of a peace officer, a second-degree felony punishable by up to 20 years in jail, and making a terroristic threat.

Police were notified at 10:21 a.m. Monday that a man — later identified by police as Chaney — was pulling and shaking the locked doors at Independence Title Leander at 1789 S. Bagdad Road, the affidavit said. A witness said he was threatening to kill everyone, according to the affidavit.

An officer who arrived at the scene noticed Chaney pacing around, cursing and pointing at two other officers already there, the affidavit said.

The officer described Chaney as taller than 6 feet, weighing about 200 pounds and having Nazi and white supremacist symbols tattooed on his arms, the affidavit said. He also noticed that Chaney was holding a glass bottle in his right hand and told Chaney to put down the bottle, according to the document.

Chaney said, "Shoot me, then," the affidavit said. "Pull your gun out and point it at me," he said, according to the affidavit. Chaney was standing about 10 to 15 feet away from the officer, who then pulled out his stun gun and told Chaney five times to put down the bottle, the document said.

Chaney cocked his right arm behind him and said he was "all in for life or death," the affidavit said. He then started walking closer to the officer, lunged at him but was hit by the officer's stun gun, according to the document. Chaney then fell down but attempted to get back up, the affidavit said.

The officer Chaney had threatened and two other officers at the scene wrestled him to the ground and handcuffed him. Chaney was being held in the Williamson County Jail on Thursday with his bail set at $23,000 on the two charges.
