A 78-year-old woman was found dead in the bedroom of a mobile home after a morning fire west of Lago Vista, county officials said.

The woman's family reported the home was on fire around 6:30 a.m. and firefighters with the Travis County Emergency Services District 1 responded to the 26900 block of RM 1431, said Capt. Brittney Garner. The woman's family said she was a grandmother.

"Given the hour, I believe she was still asleep when the fire broke out," Garner said.

Two other people were in the home but they were able to escape, Division Chief Dave Wallace told KXAN-TV.

Investigators have not determined what caused the fire, but the mobile home is expected to be a total loss, Garner said. The fire has since been knocked down, but investigators are still in the area.

Westbound RM 1431 is completely shut down past Singleton Bend and will be for awhile, Garner said.
