Springbox, one of Austin's fastest growing digital agencies, has been acquired by Prophet, a San Francisco-based global consulting firm.

Financial details were not disclosed.

Under the deal, Springbox will operate under the name Springbox, a Prophet company. The Springbox team will continue to be led by CEO John Ellett at the company's downtown Austin offices at 708 Colorado St.

Company executives said the acquisition combines Prophet's branding, marketing, design, analytics and innovation specialties with Springbox's digital strategy, digital experience and demand generation capabilities.

"Prophet and Springbox share similar entrepreneurial cultures focused on insight, creativity, data and technology with a bias toward action to help clients to not just transform, but to thrive," Ellett said in a written statement. "Springbox is complementary to Prophet's focus on helping clients evolve how they attract and engage customers, build brand relevance, drive experience led growth and innovation, and elevate their organization's ability to compete and win."

Founded in 2004,  Springbox works largely with mid-market companies that don't have their own digital marketing teams. The firm's clients have included the University of Texas at Austin, Dell Technologies and Nestle Waters North America.

In February 2018, Springbox acquired Austin-based nFusion, which provides demand generation services to clients such as Samsung, Microsoft Corp. and Q2 Software. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Ellett was CEO of nFusion at the time of the acquisition, and six months after the deal was announced he was named CEO of Springbox.

Prophet, founded in 1992, has 400 employees at 10 offices worldwide and works with clients including T-Mobile, UBS, Gatorade and GE.

Chiaki Nishino, North America regional lead at Prophet, said Springbox will boost Prophet's efforts to expand in U.S. markets, particularly in high growth regions.

"This move into Austin and Texas will help us do that," Nishino said. "Austin -- like San Francisco and Berlin, where Prophet has other offices -- is a dynamic technology hub with a rich pool of talent that supports our focus on helping clients drive their digitally powered transformation agenda."
