Man injured in single-vehicle crash in South Austin

A man was pinned in his vehicle for about 20 minutes Sunday afternoon after his car crashed into a pole along Interstate 35 in South Austin.

Shortly before noon, Austin-Travis County medics and Austin firefighters responded to the single-vehicle collision in the 8500 South block of the I-35 service road. The wreck near Slaughter Lane was on the northbound side of the highway.

Medics and firefighters extracted the man, believed to be in his 30s, from his vehicle, and he was taken to St. David's South Austin Medical Center with potentially serious injuries.

The area has been cleared for traffic.
