Friday forecast for Austin: Happy Friday! We will cap a week of delightfully mild spring weather with one more day of sunshine and warm, light breezes with temperatures in the upper 70s, according to the National Weather Service.

Austin will greet the weekend under mostly sunny skies and a slightly warmer than normal daytime high near 78 degrees, forecasters said. Clouds will increase, bringing a 20 percent chance of rain. Meanwhile overnight temperatures could drop to around 57.

But Saturday should see overcast skies, the weather service said, along with a 30 percent chance of rain. Increased cloudiness will help keep daytime temperatures limited to 73 degrees. At night, the rain chances persist but the cloud cover in this case will actually help overnight temperatures stay above 61.

The weather service's extended forecast includes sunshine again but also lingering chances for rain:

Sunday: Partly sunny with a high near 79. A 20 percent chance of showers at night with a low around 62.

Monday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, but otherwise mostly sunny with a high near 82. Mostly clear at night with a low around 54.

Tuesday: Sunny with a high near 73. Then at night, mostly clear with a low around 52.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny with a high near 73. Then mostly cloudy at night with a low around 59.
