Comal County reports 59 new coronavirus cases, 2,632 total

Comal County officials on Friday reported 59 new cases related to COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, for a total of 2,632.

A total of 467 cases are active in the county, according to health authorities. Of those, 74 are hospitalized.

As of Friday morning, the county has conducted 16,710 tests. The positivity rate is now 15.75%, up from 15.49% on Thursday.

The death toll stands at 72, according to authorities.

Of the 2,556 confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases in Comal County, the location breakdown is:

– 2,013 from the New Braunfels area, including eastern and central Comal County.

– 360 from western Comal County, including Bulverde and Spring Branch.

– 126 from south of Canyon Lake

– 70 from north of Canyon Lake, including Fischer.

– 55 from southern Comal County, including Garden Ridge and Schertz.

– Eight from Fair Oaks Ranch.
